Although Timpoochee was, by this time, somewhat used to visitation by the Nunnehi in one way or another he continued to find it a bit unsettling to be given the gift of witness.

And even if only temporary and distant and those he watched had no idea of the Nunnehi presence, he struggled against the urge to interpose himself.

“We will arrange a meeting with the Spanish authorities at their earliest convenience,” he heard Panton say with a hint of resolve in his voice.

“The treaty must be signed and executed before another year passes of Spanish rule.”

Panton stopped where he was, paused for a moment before looking at the floor.

“In the meantime,” he continued, as if talking to the table in a soft, low voice. “It wouldn’t hurt the cause if a few Spanish soldiers were surprised by a raid or two conducted by renegade bands of Creeks - none that you control, of course.

“That would demonstrate to the Spanish it would be to their advantage to prepare a treaty.”

Timpoochee saw McGillivrary and Panton nod in agreement and shaking hands in the Yonega custom before he was removed and his attention shifted, his memory moved to recall what the Nunnehi wanted him to see next.

It was a peaceful town, filled with content and productive people.

Without warning one bright, sunny day a dark cloud appear over the town and a noise could be heard coming down the trail from the mountain top.
